Welcome to P&P's Prompts Page a gateway to writing inspiration

"Inspiration may be a form of superconsciousness, or perhaps of subconsciousness--I wouldn't know. But I am sure it is the antithesis of self-consciousness."

-- Aaron Copland

P&P Prompts (to get your mojo workin'!)

What the heck is a prompt?

Prompts are voluntary.  Only do them if you want to or are so moved.  They don't count as part of your weekly post.  They can only be posted on Thursdays.  They are not meant to take a lot of time, are considered first drafts and are written for fun or to come up with story ideas.  Sometimes we allow less than a day to do them.  Sometimes we allow a week.  But no matter how much time we allow, they can usually be written in a half-hour.  You cannot post more than 500 words, which can be part of a story or a complete story or scene.  You can apply it to your novel in progress or write something completely new.

Prompts are fast written, no need to edit or look for other problems, etc. They
are a fun way to get our juices flowing. That is why when we respond to
folks prompts we simply say, "Yeah, good use of ..... or etc, We don't
critique or point out things wrong with it. That's the old editor we want
to shut down while we're writing or reading each others prompts.

You have from 12:01 a.m. until 11:59 p.m. on each Thursday a prompt is posted, to write and post a 500-word response to one of these prompts.  If you choose to participate in a prompt, you have to give a response to the other prompts you must comment (briefly—just a couple of lines, not a "real" critique) on the work of anyone else who posts a response to the prompt.
